LiFT 22nd October
Good evening friends,
How are you all? Have you turned your heating on yet? It’s very tempting isn’t it?! Have you realised that the clocks go back an hour this weekend too? I can’t work out whether that will make the day feel warmer or colder but I will be very glad of the extra hour of sleep – I am just a tiny bit tired!
It has been a good week, with lots of ministry highlights and opportunities to be very glad that God chose me for this place and this pattern in life. I can’t imagine being anywhere else at all. My highlights have been –
Our churchyard Compline service last Sunday evening, with hot chocolate, to really get us in the mood,
Welcoming Usk School into church to celebrate harvest with them, in the best of ways – readings, prayers, and songs all led by the children,
Our pilgrimage morning in Llanover church hall on Saturday,
Some excellent meetings, ones that feel like they will make a difference,
A number of conversations and prayer opportunities.
Now I just have a sermon to prepare and a pile of admin to wade through. I have begun to think about Christmas, I know! But there is such a lot to look forward to it’s good to get started early so that it can all be of the best quality possible. I remember last year that we welcomed hundreds of people across the MA to our various Carol Servies and other offerings – it’s such a wonderful opportunity to welcome people who only come to church occasionally.
What else do I have to share this week? I’m not sure there is anything. We are just in that gentle moment before it all gets busy for Remembrance, and then we will be headlong into the festive build up. Let’s appreciate the moment to pause while we can!
I hope the rest of the week goes well for you, and please don’t hesitate to be in touch if I can pray for you, or help in any other way.
With love,
Sally xxx
