LiFT 7th October
Good afternoon lovely people,
I trust this email finds you well? Despite the busyness of this week – it really has been hectic – I am still feeling the benefits of my retreat in terms of my connection to God and my desire to share his love with everyone I meet. You are an easy bunch of people to love, thank you for that. It is a joy and my delight to minister alongside you all, and I know God has plans for us, plans to help us thrive and grow. Sounds scary doesn’t it?!
I would be grateful for your continued prayers as we steadily add to our calendar of activities and events. We need help to discern those things which we should be doing, as well as those things we should be setting down. Please let me know if you have any burning desires or can see something which is perhaps getting tired and in need of refreshment or pausing for a while.
What do I need to tell you this week? Well, I would like to ask you for prayers for something else please. Someone in fact. Bill Savage will be travelling to Gladstone’s Library on 18th October ready for the following day when he will commence three days of interviews, conversations, and activities as part of the immensely rigorous process to discern his calling to train for the priesthood.
This is an exciting time for Bill, and for Lyn, and comes after a considerable period of time already ministering within our communities. Bill’s success in this process will result in him making the important shift to becoming an ordinand in the Church in Wales. I know you will want to join me in praying for Bill, please feel free to contact him and wish him well. It is a brave thing to offer oneself formally to God and his church, and I am sure you see, as we all do, that Bill has many gifts that we hope he will use and share amongst us for many years to come. You may like to know that Bill’s formal training will be done with us, he’s not going anywhere!
Finally some information about services – Compline – as usual on Sunday at 8pm via Zoom. The link is below.
And, this Sunday 10th October sees a new service added to our rota – there will be a service of Morning Prayer (Mattins) at the Priory Church of St. Mary, Usk at 10.30am. This service will be using the 1989 rite, and I’m very excited to tell you that the St. Mary’s Choir, under the care of Judith Lee will be returning after a far too long, covid induced, absence. I’m really very glad that the choir is going to be back as a regular part of this service, which will be led by Bill. So, if you’re not sure where to go to church this week, why not go to this service, it promises to be very special.
You know where I am if you need me.
