LiFT 2nd December

Good afternoon friends,

What a beautiful sunset it was this evening, did you catch sight of it?

It’s been another interesting week with some lovely opportunities to be with you and to bring the good news of our faith to others. I’ve been into school, visited people in their homes, enjoyed a lovely Forward Together service in Llandenny, met with a group of like-minded creative clergy in the diocese, and I’m very much looking forward to our Christmas party tomorrow (Friday) in the Memorial Hall in Usk; (7pm – you can just come along, no ticket required, please bring a plate of food). I’ve chosen my shoes!

I’ve also managed to make a good dent in the Christmas preparations – lots of sermons and prayers to write, and services to plan, I love doing it, but there is a lot of it!! When I look at the variety and number of services we have coming up it is really heartening. Christmas time is one of those occasions when we welcome lots of people into our churches who might only come once or twice each year, and it is important that we make the services relevant and that our welcome is warm. I know I don’t need to remind you about being welcoming, but I wonder whether you might find the courage or opportunity to ask those who come whether they would like to leave their email address so that we can keep in touch with them? I would be very glad if you did, and I will then add them to the LIFT list. It’s one of the ways we can then include and invite people to other relevant services and events such as Mothering Sunday, coffee mornings, and concerts. Thank you for your help with this.

Please don’t forget our afternoon Carol Service on Monday at 2pm in Usk. It will be a shorter informal service, ideal for those who don’t like to go out after dark, or might find more formal services difficult. Why not come along and get in the mood for later on in the month?

Finally can I just let you know that there will not be a healing service in Usk on Thursday 9th December. Instead we will be holding a service of celebration for USk WI who have been in existence for 100 years! Something certainly worth celebrating!

I hope I haven’t forgotten to tell you anything? Please let me know if I have!

And immediately I remember something! I am working all day tomorrow and will be having my rest day on Saturday, just for this week. Then next week I am off on Wednesday 8th and will be working on Friday 10th. Just so you understand if I don’t get back to you when you might expect!

With love, Sally xxx
