Usk Ministry Area

LiFT 24th March

Good evening friends,

How are you all after another day of glorious weather. My son rang from university today and said “I hope this isn’t instead of summer” which made me reflect that we have no idea what summer will hold, but we do know that today was sunny and warm. So perhaps we should make the most of each day and try to make space to enjoy whatever it offers, rather than assuming that we should wait for something else.

As I am sure you are aware, the situation in Ukraine is worsening, and as it does, Monmouthshire prepares to welcome refugees. It’s a little difficult to see how this is going to unfold at the moment, but as we pause, waiting to respond, I would ask you to continue to pray for all who are affected. We will watch closely and see how best to support those who arrive in our communities, please don’t hesitate to be in touch if you have any good ideas, and keep your eyes open for our next steps. We are in contact with the local authority to ensure that we respond in a way that is useful and appropriate. If in the meantime you are keen to help, financial donations to any of the charities working with refugees are probably most sensible (including the Diocesan Social Responsibility Fund, details will follow next week).

A date for your diary – Thursday 7th April, 10.30am will be the next in our series of prayer mornings – Forward Together – for the new Ministry Area. This time we will be at St. Madoc’s Llanbadoc, and everyone is welcome. It’s a lovely opportunity to take a moment to pause and focus on God and his plans for us.

With that in mind, I will be praying in three more churches on Monday. It was a pleasure and wonderful experience to pray in Wolvesnewton, Usk, and Llantrisant last Monday. On Monday 28th March you will find me in the following places –

10-12pm Llandegfedd

12.30-2.30pm Tredunnock

3-5pm Llanhennock

Feel free to join me just for a few minutes, or for the duration, as I pray for each community, for the church, and anything else that seems appropriate. The time is quiet, and you may like to bring your own prayer resources.

And that, I think, is that, for this week. Apart, of course, to remind you about Compline on Sunday at 8pm, and Morning prayer on Monday at 9am. Links below!.
With love to you all, as always,
Sally xxx
