LiFT 1st April (not a fool)
Good afternoon lovely people,
I resisted the urge to write to you this morning with some sort of April Fool included in the email, it didn’t seem the right thing to do at all, much as I wanted to!!
As we approach the end of Holy Week and look forward to Easter Morning I want to thank you for being such wonderful supporters of all that we have been doing. Our Compline services were superbly attended and it was a joy to have them led by so many different people, thank you to you all. I do wonder whether coming together at the end of the day to pray has chimed with our desire to be part of something bigger, and to know that we are not alone.
Would you like to continue to pray Compline together regularly on Zoom? Perhaps you could let me know? I don’t think we could manage daily, but once a week might be very possible.
Tonight we have our Maundy Thursday Service, then tomorrow, Good Friday, The Priory Church of St. Mary is open for private prayer, reflection, and to hold vigil, from noon until 3pm. Please come along if you would like.
On Sunday we have our much longed for reopening of the buildings for worship. Hooray! This comes at a cost for those who will continue to worship online though as the service online moves to 6pm. Please hold in your prayers all those who are not ready, or are not able to get to our buildings, and let our prayers include a hope that online worship continues to be meaningful to all who take part in it.
There will be no coffee on Zoom this week, but next week, Sunday 11th April, we will begin something new – we will meet for tea and cake on Zoom at 4pm. Cake is optional! I will send the link for this next week.
Finally, can I just let you know that as is the custom, and following strong advice from the archdeacon, I will be taking a few days of quiet and rest next week. I will not be picking up routine emails or be out and about. If you do need me for a pastoral emergency though please do not hesitate to ring and leave a message. I will respond as soon as I am able.
There is just one link to give you this week, and that is to our YouTube channel which will have our Sunday Service uploaded at 6pm on Easter Day, here –
My prayers for you are that you have a blessed Easter.
